Hulu: Stream TV shows & movies App Reviews

Ive been a huge fan of Hulu and the Apple TV app for Hulu for years. I watch every day. Over time the app was getting better and better until it was pretty near perfect. UNTIL YESTERDAY!!! This latest update is horrible. I usually try to find something positive I can say, but I cant this time. The interface is so obtuse and unusable, so difficult and painful, so visually annoying that Im very likely going to cancel Hulu altogether. PLEASE ROLLBACK to the previous version. This update is the "New Coke" of modern digital streaming era. It will live in infamy in marketing textbooks for decades!

Titles are now ALL CAPS. Scrolling feels like you are forcing me to stop at every title. This UI is super harsh all-around now!

As of 5/5/17 if you can avoid it do not update the Apple TV version. New user interface is confusing and shows have been lost. Im on the verge of canceling, since its so bad. If I could give it negative stars I would.

I dont know why this company cannot create functional UIs. Its as if they have some designers who want to be cool rather than focus on actual function. The new design of the Apple TV app just has you and Leslie cycling through text to figure out where you are at and what you need to watch. They have ruined the app. Developers, can you talk to customers once in a while? Let us help you make this app better. Stop trying to change the world with these goddamn redesigns. Functionally, allow us to navigate the application so we can see all of our shows on the screen without the need of scrolling so much.

Functionality is sacrificed for a trendy graphic UI. What should be the focus of the user is marred by a glaring imbalance and lack of visual hierarchy. Spending anytime within the app is tedious...."whats that? I hear a calling" **walks out the front door onto the lawn and with bleary eyes discovers what was once the Earth**

You need to update The Game with the latest seasons!

The phone app is great! The new appletv app is just terrible though. Difficult to navigate, hard to know what shows have new/unwatched episodes. Aesthetically, its eye gouging. I personally like grid layouts, I dont like this Android-esque interface you have decided to use. Its hideous.

Dear Hulu app makers, I have a 7 month old at home, and when he finally falls asleep on me after hours of rocking him through his teething pain, I chromecast awesome shows via your app on SILENT with subtitles. WHY WHY WHY are these subtitles YELLOW? I cant see them at all. Half the time, they blend in with the background of whatever show Im watching. My husband and I didnt mind it as we would just use his google phone to cast shows via his app (his subtitles were white), but now his Hulu app has been updated to include yellow subtitles. Please give us the option to pick the subtitle color. I assume its not just the tired moms and dads of the world concerned with waking their babies up by watching TV who would appreciate this fix. Otherwise, stellar work on the functionality of the app. Thanks! :)

I just got use to the move to Watchlist and then they changed it to "My Stuff". I cant figure out which shows I already caught up and which shows have new episodes. Hopefully they will bring back the green notifications. Also, LG WebOS is kinda outdated. Love you guys! Hope the Live TV becomes a hit!!!!!

Love the new look and profile support, but... -Fonts are way too big for shows. Too much scrolling for too few titles -Where are the new episodes? The best thing about the watch list was that you could see all the shows with new releases in one place

The new update for Apple TV is horrible for browsing. Unless you know what you want to watch its almost impossible to find anything. No thumbnails, and annoying background changes. Take it back please!

The new update for Apple TV is awful!!! It makes it a lot harder to find the shows I want to watch and instead suggests a bunch of things I could care less about!!! Please bring back or change the way I can navigate shows!!!!

My Hulu app on the Apple TV just updated today automatically and while the visuals on the new UI are pretty, the rest is completely useless. Its much more difficult to navigate with the remote, the grids were much better. But the HUGE deal breaker for me is the fact that I cant find the way to choose between different episodes and seasons. Basically you are now forced between watching the latest episode of a show or the one where you left off. There is no other way to choose episodes individually and I cant for the life of me understand WHO would think this is a good idea. I do not use Hulu on my laptop, just the Apple TV so honestly if they dont fix this soon Im unsubscribing. Im writing this here because you cant seem to be able to write a review directly on the Apple TV. Fix this soon!

New interface is garbage. Very difficult to determine what youve already watched or if there are new episodes. Completely text based and just not very user friendly all the way around.

Fire the project lead in the rewrite of the Apple TV interface. UX is atrocious. Navigation is confusing. Lost all my shows, had to put them in again. Cant figure out how to disable auto-playing the next episode. Slooowww.

Since they completely revamped the app it forces you to sign in again and then choose all of the shows that you already had in your watchlist and then it crashes and then it crashes again.

New Apple interface is horrible!!! I would give it a -10 if possible!!

Worst update I have ever seen on an app. Its so difficult to browse through my shows. I dont want to have to read every show one by one. Give me images. Hulu fire some people and get your crap together!

It no longer tells you which shows have Unwatched episodes which is very frustrating. And when I finish an episode instead of moving to the next episode in that series it automatically starts playing an episode of a show I dont even watch!

Please for the love of all things sacred dont update the iOS app to mirror the crap update released on Xbox one. This interface on iOS as it stands works. Its simple, light weight, not obtrusive, and functional. The "latest" but not at all greatest on Xbox one is horrid to the point I just uninstalled it. Yes its that bad and I wont update my phones version if its ever updated to that thing called the latest release.
