Hulu: Stream TV shows & movies App Reviews

The new interface requires far to many clicks to get to what you are trying to access. I never write bad reviews but I broke my streak for this one. Very disappointing

I have to rewind 10 seconds and hit pause then play after EVERY commercial. So frustrating. Update: (5/3/17)the commercial issue seems to be fixed now but the app freezes while casting all. The. Time. If I exit out of the app while its casting, then need to pause the show Im watching It takes several minutes to get it working again just to pause or replay. Fix this! As a parent, being able to pause and play easily is kind of important.

The new user interface for the AppleTV is terrible! Nothing new was a benefit to the user. The changes reflect Hulus desire to push out content that they want you to see. Nothing is really catered for the user. It would have been best to work on limiting the commercials or opting out on commercials that make no sense for the user.

The new design for the Apple TV looks like the old Zune UI. Anyone remember Zune? No? Thats because it was terrible. Please Hulu, go back to the old design. The new design is frustrating. TV is about pictures, not words. The new design of the Apple TV app makes you meander through a labyrinth of text and categories with a hue change that borders the screen. Go tell your UI designer to stick with magazine and not digital applications. Does it look nice? Sure, for a magazine. But this is an App! Its meant to be interacted with! They have turned an enjoyable experience into a frustrating, infuriating experience.

The new UI on the ATV is horrific. Takes 10x longer to find something or scroll now. Looks cool. But way more steps to find something to watch.

What on earth did you do to the AppleTV app? Dont. Do. That. Again.

The new app is an insult of color and mis-usability. Hulu clearly did not take accessibility/disability into account with the new UI. It took me a good 5 minutes to find showtime. It should not be this hard to use an app.

Im a big movie fanatic and I love hulu started watching hulu because netflix was being lazy on updating stuff. At first hulu was great at changing movies out every month and had great movie selections but for a while Ive been going through hulu and have been noticing the same old movies on their it would be nice to see different movies and as well as tv episodes if you would update on the seasons bring in new seasons instead of having just the old ones on their that would be nice.

Holy cow! Why change the interface so much? I just want to watch my shows!

They removed the option to turn off auto play. Bad idea! TV shows under Watch List no longer display the green word "New Episode" to indicate new unwatched episode. The new user interface is god awful! When you browsing tv shows it only display 4 tv show titles as a time. Awful awful user experience design.

They need to QA their app. The new release wont let me past the new app landing screen.

I hope anyway. The new Apple TV UI is HORRIBLE!! It looks pretty but using it is another story. Jarring animations, endless scrolling, and browsing for something to watch is a nightmare. The new "Lineup" shows recommendations couldnt be more off and there is no way to fine-tune recommendations. You dont like them? Too bad. At least thats what I was told when I called customer support. New episodes? There is no way to know now. Hulu wont tell you anymore. You just get an alphabetical list of anything you add in to "My Stuff", then select the show, select the season, select the episode, select details to see when it aired or if youve already watched it. You used to be able to see that at a glance, now you have to go through endless sub-menus get this info. The one saving grace is that is still works with the TV app on Apple TV so you can still get Hulu content without having to use the horrible Hulu app. Try again, Hulu. It couldnt get any worse.

Ive been an paying member (ad-free) for quite some time, and free user for much longer. Hulu has seriously earned their low app ratings, from poor interface to buggy playback (audio cutting out and not coming back till you remove the app from memory and start over). This update? It takes the cake. 99% of my Hulu usage needs a simple queue that I control: let me watch new episodes in the order I want. That is it. Every major update in the past year or two has made that more difficult. But now? New episodes dont even show up, and its pushing first seasons on shows Im currently in season 3 or 4 of (just waiting for the new episodes to come out, except now the app doesnt even let me see that either). The queue...wait no, favourites... wait no, watchlist...wait no, my stuff?! Or is it the keep watching list? Hard to tell, because everything is messed up, and new episodes...its not usuable. On top of that, the remaining 1% of my Hulu usage involved browsing...which we cant do anymore because shows are only shown one at a time. Thats not browsing. Thats a massive waste of time. Roll back 2-3 years (back when there was a semi-usable queue), then fix the bugs youre pracitcally famous for: audio cutting out and not coming back till removing the app from memory and starting over. Please.

I absolutely hate the new app (5/3/17). The old app was simple and straight to the point. I could see more than one show at a time and it had a badge if I had episodes unwatched. Now its just one show and you scroll down to the name of the next show. No badge icon and lets be honest, who wants to read tv. Just show me the icon for the show. I wont be paying for your tv service as I have cable. The new app reminds me of windows phone from 3 years ago. Who liked that. Right no one did. Im thinking of canceling as all the shows I watch each network has their own app.

- Removed the option to disable auto play, so now random shows start playing after the one I am watching finishes. - The new UI is horrible. Instead of a grid of shows, it displays one show at a time and makes you swipe once to page through. The old UI was much more efficient. By using the TV app on the AppleTV, I can avoid most of the problems. But if they dont add an option to disable auto play soon, Im canceling my subscription and just buying my shows on iTunes.

The new interface that was released on May 2 is absolutely awful. Overwrought design leads to a terrible user experience. I no longer know how many episodes I have waiting for me since badges have been removed. The "home" screen is impossible to navigate quickly. Awful. Just awful.

New update for Apple TV is horrific. Half of my shows on my list are gone (but show on the Roku). Its laid out awful and its hard to find everything. "My list" has been replaced with "keep watching" and only a few of my shows are showing up on there while shows I had removed from "my list" still appear and there is no way to individually remove them. Its no longer user friendly at all and way more complex. I do like having a separate profile for shows I watch that no one else watches but everything else is so awful. I really hope Roku doesnt update to this awful interface.

You need to have the option to download the tv shows and movies like Prime Video and Netflix now have. Thats the reason I stopped my subscription. If you do that, I would definitely be subscribed and Im pretty sure a lot of other people would be too

While not great the previous interface was acceptable. The new interface makes it impossible to browse if you dont know the title of something. Im now forced to pause on every title (no longer any thumbnail images) to see what it is. If I scroll down through the titles I cant get back to the menu on the top of the screen without scrolling all the way back up first. Finding a show to help me forget a frustrating day at work shouldnt add to my frustration. Ill give this a try for a few days but right now Im leaning towards cancelling my subscription.

I love the service and the programs but their new Apple TV interface is just horrible and clunky. And whoever thought using pale hard to read fonts was a good idea should be smacked. Hard. Even on a 60" TV the fonts are tiny.
