(Still) Poor Chromecast implementation

Update: Chromecast implementation is still terrible. Loses connection after (while TV continues to play), and you have to reconnect in the app. Will sometimes not find the Chromecast. Will sometimes play two videos at the same time on your device after you turn off Chromecast. I can’t even believe this many bugs with a single feature could happen. Also, and this is the worst, is that if you are casting then you cannot play any videos on your device. They will immediately pause once started! This is a serious deal breaker.

Ridiculous ads

Minute and a half ads to even begin an episode, then another minute and a half after nothing more than an intro song, followed by two more minute and a half breaks in between, then another to end the episode, another to start the next, title song, ads. It’s out of control. The only reason I gave it better than 1 star is because the selection is decent enough.

Comically

Comically bad app. I have to restart it several times a day. Within the past couple years, they released an update that literally wouldn’t play audio when you started watching something. From this it’s obvious that the company does *so little testing* that it doesn’t even make sure that the literal purpose of the app - watching moving images with sound like bleeps and bloops and talking - works properly. More recently, when you tell it to play something, you never know if it’ll actually play the thing or just open the video player waiting for you to press the play button. It’s 50-50. Shows consistently get a few seconds cut off before every commercial. (Then when you hit skip-back, it cuts the show off again AND makes you watch the ads again.) Lately it has started freezing sometimes at the end of an ad. It doesn’t tell the mobile OS that, mind you, so when you wake up with 2% of your battery remaining after playing something to fall asleep, it’s because Hulu froze and left the screen on all night. (Of course sometimes it kills the battery entirely - it’s not like it knows to stop at 2%. I sure hope you weren’t counting on your wake-up alarms to get to work on time.) The inability of this app to perform even the gross minimum functions required to stream video is mind-boggling.

I have been trying to update the app and whenever I try the link takes me to the App Store but does not give me the option to update the app.

Good stuff but too many ads

Ad before the episode starts, then it’s the intro, then more ads. About 4 minutes of ads before I even get to watch anything. Kinda lame, but a pretty good selection of shows. I wish they would do less.

Most ads of all streamers by far

Content is usually pretty good, but it’s often not worth watching over other streaming services because there are SO many ads. They say they still have fewer ads than cable, but that’s not the meaningful comparison, they have significantly more ads than the other streamers. A 20 min episode had 6 minutes of ads! Just insane.

Hulu for AppleTV

The Hulu app for AppleTV is the worst app I’ve ever experienced. The content and layout of fine enough. It’s my go to for live TV and Hulu content. The problem is the AppleTV Hulu app freezes and crashes multiple times. You will be scrolling around, looking for something to watch and it just freezes, requiring a force quit and restart. You go back in and it happens again. The force quit is required. It would be absolutely locked up. So many times. I wish they would fix the app. The service is decent.

Get it together!

ALL the most recent interviews are negative! Come on, Hulu! You have such great content—you could be the best of the best. Please get it together. I just tried to log in and it says “You no longer have a current subscription”. Really? I was just charged for it yesterday and my daughter is watching it on my iPad right now. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

Stop auto logging me out

No one else has access to my accounts. I verified that but each week hulu signs me out of my account and forces me to sign back in stop this or else im cancelling my service and deleting the app. At this point it is harassment to me.

To many ads

To many ads not worth paying every month.

So Many Adds

There are tons of other options out there to stream TV, movies, Anime, and other content. Hulu insists on adding 1:30 minutes of commercials every 5 minutes. It literally ruins the episodes.

Bad quality

Everything is fine except on some shows the audio and video quality is so bad that its almost unable to watch

TERRIBLE Tech Support

I had NO AUDIO AT ALL from all channels on Hulu. It was NOT an issue with other streaming apps on the same TV. I went thru all troubleshooting procedures online to no avail. I called Hulu tech support and they TWICE TRIED TO TELL ME I DIDN’T pay for it the way I told them I did! Even one star is one star too many!!! There are too many other good options to tolerate TERRIBLE TECH SUPPORT!!!

A year and a half customer now and everything keeps freezing up and 2 different television devices

All of a sudden items in My Stuff freezes, wont play, including the stinking commercials. Same thing goes for normal Live channels. Can’t even watch most content without interruptions. I don’t know why this is happening all of a sudden. Fix it or I leave!!

Terrible app and streaming service

Constantly logs out for no reason, then won’t let me stream in my OWN HOME saying that my account is not apart of the only house it’s ever been streamed in. This policy is so dumb it’s crazy. Then it’s not like the options to watch anything are amazing either.

Annoying ADS, now they make you pick which AD you want to watch!!!

First of all the Ads are annoying if people are already paying for a subscription they should not need ADS! Second giving someone the option of what AD to choose is just adding salt to the wound. It’s obvious you’re doing that for more money. The option to choose an AD is monetized also and putting a 15-20 second loading time to choose an AD is crazy. We aren’t stupid.

Don’t download it matter of fact dont subscribe

If i bought you dumb subscription service i expect it to work on ALL of my devices, If i reset my password I expect to be able to log in, not be gaslighted that i didnt put it in correctly when i clearly did, if your app doesnt work, dont put it on the app store, why sell a below subpar service that cant even perform its primary function. If i could give this negative stars i would.

Never loads properly

This app is terrible. It’s terrible on electronic devices as well as the tv. You can never get shows to load properly even when connected to a strong internet and if you go back to a previous show in the series, when you go to rewatch it, the shows don’t load in order. Awful!

Poor Performance

Enjoy the content but this app always has problems loading, you can’t pause live TV and continue watching because it resets, and way too many ads.

Tells me to update when I can’t, and locks me out

It seems like it’s related to Hulu wanting my location all the time. I told the app that it can. But as is I have to use another app to get my device to activate its location. Then I can open Hulu for a chance at it being happy for a few minutes. It didn’t use to do this… but now I can’t watch a service we pay for because they want to constantly reveal your location it seems.

“Start Over All” Button?

There should be a start over all button is the beginning of each movie or show Home Screen. Like right next to the like, dislike & my stuff button.

Advertising

I’m cool with advertisements and all but there is an unbearable amount on Hulu

Not subscribing.

Wanted developers to know that I am NOT going to install and subscribe to Hulu because of how poorly the performance is reported here, especially how would be forced to watch a bunch of ads after paying for a show. I don’t need more technology anger in my life. No show or content is worth the negative energy. I’ll keep watching my free Prime Video or

Selection great. Do not get the ad version. Totally worthless. You think you’re saving money, but no.

App mechanics

I really really really dislike the way this app works. It logs me out at least once or twice a week. It tells me my password is not right when it actually is, and i have to create new passwords about every other time it logs me out. When you create a new password, it won’t let you see what you are typing. I’m always paid up to date, so that’s not why it keeps making put my password back in, then rejecting it. I can’t figure it out I have Netflix and Amazon and they aren’t annoying . I like the actual programming on Hulu I just hate going through the rejection of my password and creating new ones every couple weeks. This is beyond annoying for me. Improve your app.

Fix the pause function

After pausing, the “play, forward, backward, next, volume” bar at the bottom stays visible after unpausing unless you manually hit the pause/play button each time. It’s the only bar that functions so annoyingly on any of the streaming services on my desktop. Please fix it. Also, how much is ABC paying you to keep “Doctor Odyssey” at the front of my “continue watching” bar despite my watching only 20 minutes of it months ago? I’ve manually removed it multiple times, but it always comes back.

Constant crashing, with paid service

paying 15 dollars for an ad free service that constantly crashes, cant load shows reliably and a team that wont to fix bug issues with smart tv’s like fire, amazon, and apple tv’s is unnacceptable, and the price keeps going up every so often

Awful Commercial Transition

For those who refuse to pay an upgrade for an add-free experience (subject of a class action lawsuit), the app’s transition to adds is awful. It’s choppy and often times incompatible with rewind/forward functioning. Some programs won’t load if the add transition is stuck, and it often gets stuck when reviewing/fast forwarding past a commercial transition. Maybe that’s the intent-force folks to pay for an upgrade. But this doesn’t appear to be a problem on other streaming app sites with commercials.

Audio doesn’t work when downloading episodes

Of course there are great things to watch on Hulu but only if you have internet or cell service. The app constantly deletes downloaded content before you can watch. It is the most frustrating and annoying thing!

Too many ads! STOP WITH THE TRUMP ADS!!

I’m paying to watch my shows in peace. When I start an episode an ad starts. Most episodes are 20 minutes. Within each episode you get a minimum of 3 ads that play, and of course Hulu always ends most episodes with an ad. I’m really debating on just canceling my subscription and just watching my shows on free websites again. The trump ads are getting rlly annoying. Hulu is constantly playing useless trump ads.

Good app. Service terrible

Mainly old shows and movies so I cancelled. Then I fell for the 2.99 a month with adds renewal trap. It is terrible. Having lunch watching American Dad I am not even halfway through the episode and I have already had three commercial breaks, long ones too. If you go back because you tuned out during one of those breaks, it will sometimes go back to a commercial break when you have just watched one. The commercials are also loud, a lot louder than in cable. Like getting an angry neighbor knock on your door loud if watching something late at night. If that is the way they want to improve their results... well, they need a new CEO

Why am I watching 4x 1:30 ads for a 40 minute episode it is silly and it isn’t even different each time it is the same exact videos…

I can’t even log in to this app.. it won’t even let me submit my log in info… meanwhile I can access the app perfectly fine on my cell phone

Frequent authentication failures

It constantly claims something went wrong, guilts me when I try to log out (the only thing it lets me do), and then forces me to log back in.

Struggling not to be vulgar

Worst app ever and that’s saying something given Max exists. Impossible to stream. Audio doesn’t match the video. Blow it all up!

Unable to log in

This app is the worst, it keep asking me about Hulu and Disney+. It won’t allow me to just sign in to Hulu. You need to work on fixing these problems.

Really horrible with the ads

The app i have it on the chromecast and everytime i watch something the ads would pop up but not show or it would just freeze or not even play the screen was just all black and just said ad in the corner you can hear the sound playing of the ad but nothing shows and then it just tells me "Were having trouble playing this" Hulu error code P-TS207 This is super annoying im just going to have to cancel my account cause this happens way too much! Fix this!

Why?

Hulu is good good shows good movies good anime but there is too much ads like every two minutes there’s a ad Hulu if you’re watching it don’t put ads bro

NEED LANDSCAPE LOCK

It’s hard to watch anything on the app. I need a way to lock my view on lanscape mode. This is a basic feature. I don’t like how hard to use the app is. If I’m playing something in full screen i’d like to have stay on landscape!!!
